TD for Cavan-Monaghan, Pauline Tully, has welcomed news from Bus Éireann, in a response to a parliamentary question she submitted, that the bus station in Cavan town is to reopen to the public in July.
Teachta Tully said:
“I welcome the news that the station will reopen in July. It is not before time.
“The bus station has been closed now for an extensive period of time.
“Throughout this people have had to stand out in all types of weather. There was no access to toilets or a cafeteria for commuters on long journeys.
“It is good that this will now soon be resolved and the station will be back in use.”
In the reply to Deputy Tully’s parliamentary question the CEO of Bus Éireann stated that:
“Works are ongoing at Cavan bus station in advance of the planned reopening of the station in July, as are discussions with the independent service providers who previously operated from the location.
Previously the company had indicated that they had deep cleaned the station, that internal works were ongoing and that the toilets have been reopened ahead of the station’s full reopening.
